SNEWS names Rion Smith a top 10 Power Player

Hello fans of OSM,

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Spencer Cooke and I operate a small business in Asheville NC called Effort Inc.  I’ve been a sales rep in the paddlesports industry since 1996 and a multimedia producer for the past twelve of those years.  Why then, you might be asking, am I writing on the OSM website?  I’ll explain.

As greenhorn sales reps, Rion Smith and I first met in 1997 at a surf kayaking event in South Carolina.  Three years later I found myself working for Rion at Outdoor Sports Marketing.  Since my stint as a full-time employee at OSM I have been fortunate enough to continue doing occasional multimedia work with Rion, Nolan and crew.  Lately, we’ve been working on lots of videos that you may have seen here.  These guys are simply great to work with and I have lots of respect for the entire OSM team.

Last winter Rion asked me to take a few mug shots of him for an article that would be running in SNEWS.  Being his humble self, he didn’t really explain how big of a deal this article was.  When I recently received a copy of the article I was rather impressed with the stature he has earned and no doubt deserves.

Unequivocally, Rion is one of the most professional people to work with in the outdoor industry.  This is made obvious by the company he keeps, the business he conducts and the brands he represents.  As a friend and colleague of Rion I want to extend my congratulations.  Well done and keep up the amazing work!
